AONB (Area of Outstanding Beauty)

AONBs are national designations. The primary purpose of AONB designation is to conserve and enhance natural beauty. Tandridge contains two AONBs. The Surrey Hills AONB covers much of the northern part of the District, and the High Weald AONB covers the south-eastern corner of the District.

Tandridge has adopted Management Plans for both AONBs.

In addition, both the Surrey Hills and High Weald AONB websites contain other documents, including design guidance for development proposals located in either of these AONBs.

Surrey Hills Boundary Review

Natural England has started a formal review of the Surrey Hills AONB boundary, which will consider the case for extending the existing AONB. Further information about the boundary review, including how you can get involved, can be found the Surrey Hills AONB Boundary Review website.
