Marking Remembrance Sunday this year
Due to the current government restrictions, arrangements for marking Remembrance Sunday on 8 November will be different this year.
To comply with guidelines on social distancing, we will not be hosting any Remembrance Sunday events on council owned land. Any acts of remembrance will be different, with some churches hosting small services, following COVID-19 guidelines and live streaming their service.
The Royal British Legion will not request any road closures this year across Surrey, although arrangements will be made to ensure all wreath laying will be private with no more than six people present.
Organisers of private events must carry out a full risk assessment and implement measures to minimise the risk of infection.
The two-minute silence at 11am will still take place and residents can support this mark of respect on their doorsteps or in their homes.
The Royal British Legion’s website includes some resources to help you mark the Act of Remembrance this year.
