Recycling banks

In 2023, paper, card and bottle banks were removed from some car parks in the district.

Why were they removed?

  • We collect these items from homes every fortnight as part of the recycling collection service we provide. Simply, put these items in your recycling bin or in a clear plastic bag next to your recycling bin on your collection day.
  • People were vandalising the banks.
  • People were flytipping which is a criminal offence.
  • Private businesses and traders were using the recycling banks to dispose of commercial waste.
  • By removing the banks, the Council will save £50,000 a year on maintenance costs and expenses related to flytipping removal.

We have recycling bank sites where you can take your textiles and shoes. These should be in tied carrier bags.

Please only use these between 8am and 8pm and do not leave any materials on the ground. Materials that can’t be recycled at our recycling banks may be accepted at a community recycling centre.

Glass bottles, jars, food and drink cans and cartons are collected every fortnight if you put them in your blue lidded recycling bin. If you have excess recycling then just pop them in a clear plastic bag, or cardboard box next to your bin and it will be collected. If you regularly have too much recycling then order another free recycling bin.
