Cemeteries and crematoria

The Council manages one cemetery in the district at St Mary's Church, Church Hill, Caterham (map).

The burial ground at Caterham Cemetery is now full for new graves. We still have plots remaining for the interment of cremated remains.

The fees apply where the person to be interred in respect of whom the right is granted is, or immediately before their death was, an inhabitant or parishioner for a period of seven years (except that in this case the purchase fee is increased), or in the case of a still born child, where the parents (or one of them) are, or at the time of the interment were, such inhabitants or parishioners. Purchase fees, interment and memorial fees are further increased in respect of non-parishioners.
The fees indicated include the digging of the grave plot.
Cremated remains are buried in plots in the Garden of Remembrance unless a grave has been purchased previously elsewhere in the cemetery.
The Council has agreed that there would be no charge for the burial of children under the age of 12 in the Caterham Cemetery. The normal purchase prices of the grave space would remain the same, but the interment fee would be waived.
