REGULATION (EC) No 852/2004 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on the hygiene of foodstuffs
From 1 January 2006 Article 6 of Regulation 852/2004 requires registration with the Local Food Authority in whose area the food business will be based and where relevant approval of the food business by the Local Food Authority.
Definitions:
'food business'means any undertaking, whether for profit or not and whether public or private, carrying out any of the activities related to any stage of production, processing and distribution of food;
'food business operator' means the natural or legal persons responsible for ensuring that the requirements of food law are met within the food business under their control;
There are exemptions from registration for:

Food business operators shall also ensure that the competent authority always has up-to-date information on establishments, including by notifying any significant change in activities and any closure of an existing establishment.
Please ensure that you register your food business at least 28 days before you start operating or less than 28 days after you make a significant change or you will commit a potential offence.
If you have already registered under the previous Food Premises (Registration) Regulations 1991 you need only tell us about significant changes concerning your food establishment.
