Bus passes

The national concession allows eligible elderly and disabled residents to use their pass for free on any local buses anywhere in England between 9:30am to 11pm on weekdays and at any time at the weekend and on bank holidays.

In addition, Tandridge District Council has funded an extension to the national concession to allow senior citizen pass holders to travel for free on bus journeys beginning or ending in Surrey from 9am (ie half an hour earlier than the national scheme). Disabled pass holders can use their Tandridge pass at any time weekdays and weekends on journeys beginning or ending in Surrey.

Transport for London will allow the Tandridge bus pass to be used on its buses at any time on any day. Cards cannot be used on Express services or excursions, special services, or tram, tube or rail services.

Tandridge residents can apply for a pass by completing either of the forms below. The first form can be printed out and filled in by hand or the second form can be filled in online and then printed.

People with disabilities may qualify for a free pass if they are 5 or over and able to provide confirmation of their disability from Social Services stating their eligibility. Those who cannot travel on their own may be able to get a bus pass which allows a carer to travel free as well.

For senior citizens, from 6 April 2010, the government is increasing the age of eligibility for a bus pass. This is due to changes in the age women get the state pension.

These changes are being phased in over ten years, which means by April 2020 everyone will be eligible for a state pension and a bus pass at 65.
You may apply up to a month before your eligible birthday but you will not receive the permit until your birthday or very soon after.

A detailed list of eligibility dates can be found by following this link: Eligibility dates
