Community services

Director of Community Services, Richard Woodward, is responsible for a wide range of services involving:

• Amenity Services - manages the Council's contracts for refuse and recycling collections, toilets and parks and open spacesand street cleansing is carried out by in-house staff.
• Environmental Health - Officers carry out inspections and investigations under national legislation. These cover food hygiene, health and safety, licensing, contaminated land and dealing with pollution including noise nuisance, air quality and private drainage.
• Housing is responsible for ensuring housing needs within the district are met. This means finding ways to provide affordable housing for those who need it, working to improve conditions within the private sector, providing a wide range of free information and confidential advice on housing-related issues and managing the Council's stock of rented housing.
• Leisure (This link will open in a new window) Tandridge Leisure is a non-profit making company which works in and with the community to encourage and help local people to pursue more active lifestyles. This is achieved by raising awareness of the benefits of regular exercise and improving access to a range of activities. The work of the team falls into five key areas: physical activity and recreation, sport, play, arts and business development.
• Parking services on-street parking management is undertaken by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council on behalf of Surrey County Council. Reigate and Banstead Civil Enforcement Officers also patrol the Council's car parks under a partnership arrangement.
• Tandridge commercial services - building, management of Caterham cemetery, grounds and vehicle maintenance services, cesspool service, issues licences for hackney carriages and taxis and carries out vehicle checks.
