Our services are available to all members of the community, irrespective of the language they speak.
To ensure all our residents have access to the services we provide, the Council uses Language Line which can provide interpreters for over 100 different languages.
When a non English speaking person calls into the Council Offices, Oxted, our staff can show them a card, which says in languages ranging from Albanian to Vietnamese; "Please indicate which is your language. We can contact an interpreter by telephone."
Once the person has indicated which language they speak, we will phone Language Line. An interpreter will be provided and a three way conversation will take place between the person, interpreter and council officer to deal with the problem or enquiry.
In addition we have translated the following information into the five most commonly used ethnic languages in this area.
"Our services are available to all members of the community irrespective of the language they speak. Either visit the Council Offices in Oxted or call Seanne Giddy on 01883 732979 for assistance."
