Articles lost in refuse or recycling

Sometimes residents accidentally place valuables in recycling banks or leave valuables in or by their refuse or recycling. The chances of recovering lost items varies, depending where it was lost and how soon it was reported.

There is a good chance of recovery where items have been accidentally placed in wheeled recycling banks, or street litter bins, and we have been told immediately. Where there has been any delay in telling us and the recycling bank/litter bin has been emptied, the chances of recovery are very poor.

Any items lost in a refuse or recycling vehicle are also very unlikely to be recovered, but it is still worth contacting the refuse contractor to ask. Please call Biffa Waste Services on 01883 712333.

Items lost in the large Sita green recycling banks for cardboard or blue Aylesford recycling banks for newspapers/magazines may be found if reported immediately and therefore before they are collected from. These are run by separate contractors and therefore any special emptying required may incur a charge.
