Green Belt Assessment
The Council are carrying out a Green Belt Assessment (GBA) which will assess how effectively the Green Belt in Tandridge serves the five purposes of the Green Belt as set out in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). It will not, however, be a means of assessing the suitability of land for development and will not make recommendations as to whether the Green Belt boundary should be altered.
The GBA will form part of the wider evidence base for the Local Plan and will be used to inform its preparation alongside a variety of other evidence based documents. The Methodology Green Belt Assessment Methodology and accompanying assessment parcels map Green Belt Assessment Study which will be used to carry out the GBA were approved by the Planning Policy Committee on Thursday 25 June 2015.
In preparing the methodology, the Council have taken into account the views from targeted stakeholder engagement which took place at workshops on the 5, 8 and 16 June 2015. Engagement took place with councillors, parish councils, development professionals, environmental groups and community representatives such as residents associations and community groups.
The final Green Belt Assessment and all other evidence based documents will be submitted to the Planning Policy Committee alongside the Regulation 18 draft of the Local Plan at the end of the year prior to undergoing statutory public consultation.
