Tomorrow's Tandridge

The Core Strategy

On 15th October 2008 the Council adopted the Tandridge Core Strategy. This document sets out key planning policies for the District until 2026. The strategy shows how housing will be delivered over the 15 year delivery period as required by the Government. The Core Strategy is the first Development Plan Document (DPD) within the Local Development Framework.

The Core Strategy was adopted on 15th October. An on-line version is available on the Tandridge Planning Policy consultation portal and a PDF version of the Core Strategy is available here. Printed copies are available for £12.

The Core Strategy supersedes a number of Local Plan policies. However a number of Local Plan policies remain in force until such time as they are replaced by future policies in subsequent development plan documents, for instance the proposed Development Control DPD. The List of Local Plan policies retained after adoption of Core Strategy shows which policies are still in operation.

It should be noted with the adoption of the Core Strategy, the Green Belt Settlements, as shown on the Local Plan proposals map have been deleted. Therefore until the Council undertakes a sustainability assessment of the villages and considers if any should be reinstated as Green Belt settlements, Green Belt policy will apply to those villages.

The Council is undertaking a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment during 2009.

More information on the overall process of preparing the LDF can be found on the Local Development Framework web page.

Inspector's report

On 15 September the Council received the Tandridge Core Strategy Examination Inspector's Report. The Inspector has concluded that, subject to the Core Strategy being changed in accordance with his report that it was sound.
