Green Belt Guidance
The Green Belt has widespread public support as a means of controlling building in the open areas of Tandridge. An important part of this is the policy for extensions to homes in the Green Belt. To help explain this policy to householders who may be considering extending their homes, a guidance note has been produced. However it should be noted that the revised rules on what can be built under "permitted development" may reduce the number of proposals that fall to be considered under the guidance.

The Council has published guidance to clarify its policy about the conversion of buildings in the Green Belt. Many farmers and other landowners have buildings that are no longer used for their original purpose and some apply to convert them for other purposes.

Both guidance notes were the subject of a public consultation exercise and the results of that consultation are set out in separate annexes to the guidance notes.
