Local Plan

The Local Plan is the name for the documents which together set out a Local Planning Authority's development plan policies for their area.

In Tandridge policies are contained in the Tandridge District Local Plan 2001 which over time is being replaced. The Council has been able to "save" many of the existing Local Plan policies beyond 27th September 2007, these saved policies will be replaced as different parts of the new Local Plan are adopted. With the adoption of the Core Strategy in October 2008 further Local Plan policies were superseded.

The Core Strategy sets out the key policies for the district, this was adopted in 2008. At the time the Core Strategy was produced the Local Plan was known as the Local Development Framework and background information (the evidence base) is available on the Local Development Framework - Evidence Base page.

The Council is working on its Development Management policies  (used when considering planning applications) which will replace the  which was adopted in 2001. A  consultation on the Councils draft perferred approach was carried out between 31st January and 15th March 2013. The results are now being analysed and it is hoped a submission version will be ready in the Summer.

In March 2012 the Government published the new National Planning Policy FrameworkThis link will open in a new window (This link will open in a new window) (NPPF) which sets out policy guidance to be taken into account by Councils when they prepare their local plans and when the make decisions on planning applications. Over the coming months the Council will be considering the implications of the NPPF and will consider what action it needs to take, if any, to ensure its policies comply with national policy.
