Renting privately

Many people rent accommodation from a private landlord. In Finding Accommodation in the Tandridge Area you can find information about the different types of rented accommodation, how to find it in Tandridge and advice on tenancy agreements.

You can also find more information about renting privately on Gov.uk

Help with paying your rent

If you are in receipt of benefits or on a low wage you may qualify for Housing Benefit. You will need to ensure the rent is below the level of the Local Housing Allowance.

Private Sector Access Scheme

We have a Private Sector Access Scheme for families in need of urgent housing. New properties are always needed, particularly two and three bed properties. There are many families who need accommodation now.

We have produced guidance leaflets for both tenantsOpen this document with ReadSpeaker docReader and landlords that are interested in learning more about the scheme.

Rent deposits

If you need help with your deposit, you may qualify for the Tandridge Rent Deposit Scheme. This offers a guarantee or bond to private landlords in place of a deposit or rent in advance. If you are in receipt of benefits or on a low income you may also be able to get help paying rent in advance from the Department of Work and Pensions.
