Stay safe around water
Drowning is a leading cause of accidental death in children in the UK. Around 400 people drown in the UK every year, this is equivalent to one person drowning every 20 hours.
Keep your family safe around water by making sure they know the SAFE Code:
Spot – Spot the dangers: Look for dangers whenever you’re near water
Advice – Take Advice: Read the signs; ask lifeguards and adults
Friend – Go with a Friend: Always go with friends or family, it’s more fun and they can get help in an emergency
Emergency – Know what to do in an emergency: Call 999 and shout for help, never go into the water to help someone
