Hunt for local heroes
Tandridge Voluntary Action (TVA) has announced the launch of the 2018 Local Heroes Awards, to recognise and reward the invaluable help and support given voluntarily by people in our community.
The Chairman of the Council, Councillor David Cooley, will be awarding the Tandridge District Council’s Chairman’s Award for an ‘Invisible Hero’ – someone who supports everyone else and keeps organisations going, by doing many of the behind the scenes jobs.
This year TVA has also launched The Mike Moss Community Award. This award has been established to recognise the extensive community contribution of Mike Moss MBE and is for individuals who make a difference in their community, nominated by the community.
Other nomination categories include:
- Service up to five years
- Service for up to 10 years
- Lifetime 10 plus years
- Young volunteer award for 16 to 25 year olds.
- A Team Award – for a team of volunteers who have excelled in their provision of help to a community, association or charity.
To be eligible, nominees must either live or work within Tandridge and receive no payment (apart from expenses) for their time.
To nominate a local hero, visit www.tva.org.uk and follow the links to complete a simple form. Nominations must be submitted by 31 July, with judging taking place at the end of the summer. Awards will be presented at a Volunteering event at Oxted Community Hall on 13 October 2018.
