Tandridge Together Lottery gets off to a flying start

Just six weeks after its launch, the Tandridge Together Lottery has raised over £10,257 for good causes in the Tandridge district. On the draw on Saturday 5 May, one lucky resident won £2,000 – the third time this amount has been won so far. The winner not only chose to support Oxted Hockey Club with their ticket purchase, but also donated their prize money to the club.

Since the lottery launch 344 lucky winners have so far scooped £8,300 worth of prizes. Three people have won £2,000, five players £250 and one player a £250 Amazon voucher, while 32 players got £25 and 303 players bagged three free tickets.

Councillor Simon Ainsworth, Chair of the Resources Committee, said: “We are really pleased the lottery has proved such a success for the good causes and the lucky winners. It is a really positive way to help local good causes raise funds and for their supporters to be in with a chance of winning £25,000. Thank you to the good causes for signing up and to all their supporters.”

Sam Dobson, from Oxted Hockey Club, said: “When we first heard about the Tandridge Together Lottery we knew we wanted to be involved. We are a local community club with over 400 members, plus parents of juniors. When the player selects us as their nominated cause we get much needed extra income, which will allow us to keep investing in the club and the facilities. We are absolutely delighted last week’s £2,000 winner has donated their prize money to us. This is an amazing gesture and we are very grateful. We will use the extra funds to buy some specialist equipment for our junior section, developing the grass roots of our club and enhancing their love of a sport which means so much to us. We would like to say a huge thank you to the winner and to the Tandridge Together Lottery! Long may you continue to bring benefit to the community and worthy causes like us.”
