Call for sites for new homes and economic development uses

The Council is carrying out its annual request to individuals, organisations, community groups, landowners and developers to provide details about potential sites within the district for development.

From Monday 5 February until Sunday 17 March, a site can be submitted for consideration as part of a Call for Sites consultation.

This information will be used to update the Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA). This is a technical study, required by the government, which assesses the suitability, availability and achievability of land for development. It does not determine whether a site should be allocated for development or whether planning permission should be granted.

The Council is particularly keen to receive details about sites which are brownfield, land for Gypsy and Traveller pitches and plots for Travelling Showpeople, as well as potential sites for:

  • Housing.
  • Economic development.
  • Custom and self-build housing.
  • Leisure and tourism.
  • Biodiversity Net Gain.
  • Blue / green infrastructure eg re-wilding, natural flood mitigation or renewable energy.

To submit a site for consideration, please complete this online form providing as much information as possible, including a map of the site, by 11.59pm on 17 March 2024. The Council will consider the site and you will be contacted if more details are needed.

You do not have to own a site to suggest it for development, although you will need to provide the landowner’s details. Please make the landowner aware before submitting details of their site.
