Supporting Afghan families
Tandridge District Council has pledged to support two Afghan families who played a vital part in assisting our British forces.
We are currently looking for accommodation in the private sector. A dedicated team, including volunteers, will help the families to integrate successfully into the community. If you are a landlord who has a suitable property, please contact us or call 01883 722000.
Local communities and voluntary organisations are already offering their help. Financial donations can be made to The Red Cross. Staff and volunteers are providing emotional support, as well as essential items such as blankets, clothes, soap, toothbrushes and nappies.
If you would like to contribute by offering services or items like housing, fostering or donations, you can visit the Help refugees who have come to the UK page to offer help to refugees in your local area.
We are working closely with our partners, Reigate and Banstead and Mole Valley councils, as well as the Home Office.
The Council is extending its support as part of the government’s Afghan citizens’ resettlement scheme, which has been announced to provide safe refuge to those who supported our armed forces.
This support does not have any impact on providing homes for families on our housing register.
