Landslip on the East Grinstead railway line
The railway line between Lingfield and East Grinstead has been closed because of a landslip, with no trains currently running between the stations.
This disruption is expected until Monday 2 March. Passengers at East Grinstead, Dormans and Lingfield, travelling towards London, will need to use the rail replacement bus to connect with a rail service at Oxted. This may affect your journey if you are planning to visit the Bluebell Railway at Half Term as East Grinstead connects to the Bluebell Railway.
Emergency work to repair the situation on the East Grinstead Railway line will start on 14 February 2020. Affected residents will be contacted by Network Rail.
For further information you can visit Network Rail. The latest travel information can be found on Southern Railway's website.
Update on emergency works – Cookspond Embankment Stabilisation Works
Network Rail has been carrying out emergency works to stabilise the embankment due to a small landslip in the Cookspond area. The recent severe weather has caused further movement of the embankment and further works are needed. Lorries will be delivering large volumes of new stone to support the works and at times need to work over 24 hour periods during the week to prevent any further failure of the embankment. Network Rail is committed to minimising any unnecessary noise and disruption.
