Tandridge goes the extra mile to support local businesses

Tandridge District Council is one of only two councils out of 99 surveyed, which have so far paid out money from the government’s £300m fund to provide relief for firms hit by a hike in business rates. Amber Valley Council in Derbyshire is the other.

In the spring budget the Chancellor announced a discretionary business rate relief fund, so local councils could devise schemes to assist businesses facing rising bills as a result of the national revaluation of all business properties. In response we quickly put together our own local scheme, identified eligible businesses and a total of £152,000 has already been awarded.

We have also awarded £40,000 via the Public House Relief Scheme and identified and reduced instalments for those qualifying under the Supporting Small Businesses Relief Scheme. Ratepayers are encouraged to get in contact if they have any queries. Please e-mail
