At the Planning Policy Committee on 3 July councillors approved the draft Local Plan. This means we can proceed with a final Draft Local Plan Consultation, after which we will take any final comments and amendments into account before submitting the plan to the government in January 2019.

Last night’s Planning Policy Committee voted to approve the Draft Local Plan for a Regulation 19 consultation which will now take place between 30 July and 5pm on 10 September.

Local Plan to be debated at next week’s Planning Policy Committee

Next week’s Planning Policy Committee takes place on Tuesday 3 July at 7.30pm in the Council Chamber, Oxted. The meeting will be available for anyone to view live online using the Council’s webcasting system at www.tandridge.gov.uk/webcast.

At this meeting, the Committee will decide whether to approve the Draft Local Plan for Regulation 19 consultation.

Draft Local Plan published tomorrow

The Draft Local Plan will be published tomorrow evening and will be online at www.tandridge.gov.uk/localplan for everyone to read. The Council will also be publishing fact sheets for every ward, which will include maps, sites for new homes, employment and infrastructure improvements to help make the information in the plan easy to access.

On Thursday 21 June, we will publish the Draft Local Plan. We are doing this as early as we can and earlier than is legally required because we recognise the complexity of its contents. We want to give everyone time to consider it properly before we decide at the Planning Policy Committee on 3 July, whether to approve the Plan for Regulation 19 consultation.

Surrey County Council (SCC), as the statutory waste authority, is in the process of updating its Waste Plan. As part of this SCC recently carried out a second public consultation between 1 November 2017 and 7 February 2018, which Tandridge District Council, as a statutory consultee, has responded to.

Chaldon location no longer being considered for Local Plan: Garden Villages Consultation

The Council will no longer be considering one of the locations put forward for a garden village development. Recent evidence on the location at Chaldon, which encompassed land at Alderstead and Tollsworth Farm, has now demonstrated this area has a number of issues which cannot be overcome and it will not be included in the Local Plan: Garden Villages Consultation which starts shortly.

The next stage of the Local Plan is about to get underway with a consultation about the potential locations being considered to create a modern and sustainable garden village development. The consultation will run for eight weeks from Monday 14 August to 5pm on Monday 9 October.

Council releases early draft report on Objectively Assessed Housing Need

Following comments on social media, the Council has decided to release a draft of a report about the district’s objective assessment of housing need.

The report has not been published or made available until now because it was a draft report, prepared by planning consultancy Arc4 and included a housing need requirement which was significantly higher than the assessment of need the Council has since accepted and used in its Local Plan preparation.

Have your say about the five locations put forward for new garden village 

Next week’s Planning Policy Committee will consider approving a consultation on the five potential locations being considered for a garden village development, as part of the Local Plan making process. If approved, the Local Plan: Garden Village Consultation will take place for six weeks in August/September 2017. 

The five locations are: 

•    Blindley Heath
•    Chaldon Land at Alderstead and Tollsworth Farm 
•    Edenbridge, Land west of Edenbridge
•    Redhill Aerodrome
•    South Godstone
