Tandridge community strategy

Shaping your community is the Tandridge Community Strategy for 2006-2011 and aims to improve local services through better co-ordination between the organisations that provide them.

Please click on the following link to view the Community Strategy.

This strategy has been prepared by the Tandridge Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) which has representatives from Tandridge District Council, Surrey County Council, Tandridge Voluntary Service Council, Surrey County Association of Parish and Town Councils, Surrey Primary Care Trust, Tandridge Leisure Ltd, local businesses and Surrey Police.

The strategy's goals are to:

  • Promote the social, economic and environmental well-being of all Tandridge residents.
  • Improve the quality of life in local communities.
  • Contribute to the achievement of sustainable development in the UK.

At the core of the strategy is a series of Action Plans and targets relating to the following three generic themes and an area-based initiative:

  1. Safer and stronger communities: The focus will be on achieving reductions in crimes such as burglary, vehicle crime, anti social behaviour and criminal damage.
  2. Accommodating changing lifestyles. This has priorities for smoking, physical activity, obesity, mental health and independent living.
  3. Sustainable travel, access and mobility: The emphasis will be on making roads safer and meeting targets through good engineering, education and enforcement.
  4. Caterham Town Centre improvements: This includes working with local teams to carry out surveys and develop appropriate improvement plans and projects.

The LSP takes a positive approach to equality and diversity issues. This relates to both delivery of and opportunity to access services provided by member organisations. In this context, partners are committed to:

  • Make services more accessible to older and disabled people.
  • Remove potential barriers to the receipt of services.
  • Promote equality of opportunity.
