Core Strategy

Core Strategy Documents

The Tandridge District Core Strategy was adopted by the Council in October 2008. It sets out key planning policies for the District and has superseded parts of the Tandridge District Local Plan 2001. However it should be read in conjunction with the saved policies in the Local Plan.

The Core Strategy is available here as a PDF document, alternatively an on-line version is available on the Tandridge planning policy portal (Core Strategy)This link will open in a new window (This link will open in a new window).

You can view our online Planning Policy MapsThis link will open in a new window (This link will open in a new window) with links to the Core Strategy text and saved Local Plan text.

Other information on the saved Local Plan is available on the Local Plan 2001 page.

The Tandridge Core Strategy Examination Inspector's Report is available here.

Green Belt Settlements

For current information (as from November 2009) on the situation with regard to the Green Belt Settlements see the Green Belt page. Please note that the Council is now reviewing the Green Belt Settlements and a publication consultation was carried out from 28 January until 11 March 2011. The final stage of the review has been included within the draft Development Management Policies development plan document, which was consulted on from January to March 2013.

Residential Garden Land Development

In June 2010 the Council issued informal guidance on its approach to Development of residential garden land - June 2010 following changes to the national guidance contained in PPS3. In March 2012 the Government published the National Planning Policy FrameworkThis link will open in a new window (This link will open in a new window) (NPPF) which cancelled PPS3. The approach to the development of residential garden land has not changed as a result of the NPPF, therefore the advice in the Council's guidance remains relevant.

Housing Supply and Monitoring

Following the attempt by the Government to revoke the Regional Spatial Strategy (the South East Plan) in 2010, the Council produced the following Statement of Intentions which explains why the Council does not intend to review the adopted housing requirement as set out in the Core Strategy. From 25th March 2013 the South East Plan has been revoked.

The Council publishes a Housing Five Year Supply Statement which sets out the current supply of housing in relation to the Core Strategy requirement. The Council also produces an annual Authority's Monitoring Report which sets out the annual progress in delivering the Core Strategy targets and other useful information. The Housing Supply Statements and annual Monitoring Reports are available on the Monitoring Reports page

Background information

Background information on the Core Strategy can be found on the Local Development Framework - Evidence Base page.

Please look at the Local Plan page for general information, including the programme of work and consultation arrangements.

The Council has carried out a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment.

Local Transport Plan

On 1 April 2011 Surrey County Council published the Surrey Local Transport PlanThis link will open in a new window (This link will open in a new window) a which sets out proposals for transport over the next few years.
