| Standen is the story of family life against a backdrop of the Arts and Crafts Movement. The design of the house is a monument to the combinded genius of architect Philip Webb and his friend William Morris and is filled with art, ceramics and textiles from the period. You can follow the story of the Beale family in 1925 throughout the house. Standen's garden restoration project will continue in 2013 with lots of work to see and get involved with. The top of the gardens offers wonderful views and footpaths lead you to acres of woodland and countryside. Our shop sells gifts inspired by Wiliam Morris. Our Barn Cafe offers food throughout the day (hot lunches served from 12-2.30pm). | |
