Why is food waste being collected?

In Tandridge 38% of waste is food. Currently this is sent to landfill, where it can release the potent greenhouse gas methane. By collecting food waste separately not only is a useful compost produced, but it does so with significantly less greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere.
