Why has the allotment price increased in 2013?
We expect you are aware that local authorities continue to have to achieve significant savings as part of the Government’s overall national budget reduction plan.
In looking to find savings, the Council has carefully reviewed all of its services, staffing and expenditure. This has led to the Council making some difficult decisions. Efficiency savings, staffing reductions, expenditure reductions for some services and a review of all charges have been necessary and it has been decided to increase allotment charges from £63.00 per 250sqm plot to £65.00 or £6.50 per 25sqm, an increase of 3.2% for 2013/2014.
The Council regrets the need for adjustments in its allotment charges in these difficult times, however, it believes that its charges for 2013/2014 represent good value when compared to charges elsewhere in the county.
