Why do you need to know my nationality?

Only people who are British, Irish, Commonwealth citizens or citizens of the European Union are eligible to go on the register and depending on the type of election being held there are further restrictions on who is eligible to vote on grounds of nationality for example, European citizens can vote in local elections but not in UK Parliamentary elections.
