I can't afford to buy my own home on the open market, what are my options?

There are a number of government-backed schemes which help people to buy a home through equity loans and shared ownership, or to rent a home at below market rates.

Details of these schemes and the qualifying criteria are available from our Help to Buy page or from the the government's Help to Buy Agent who can advise on all the available options.
