Rats, mice, wasps and other pests

The Council's pest control contractor, Balcombe Pest Control, can treat a range of pests in domestic premises.

• If you do not receive means tested benefits call Balcombe directly on 01444 811916. Please see the table below for prices.
• If you do receive benefits call 01883 722000, or fill in the pest control treatment form.

Repairs or pest proofing is not included in this service, neither can dead rats be retrieved from under floor voids, wall cavities or other inaccessible locations.

Charges for pest control treatment from 5 January 2011

Free pest control treatments for residents receiving means tested benefits

The Council will provide a free pest control service for some pests, as detailed in the table above, if you are in receipt of one or more of the following means tested benefits. You will be expected to provide proof of your benefits before Balcome Pest Control will treat the pest.

• Income support/employment support allowance
• Pension credit guarantee
• Job seekers allowance
• Housing benefit
• Council tax benefit

Owners and occupiers have a responsibility to keep their land free from rats and mice. In some circumstances Tandridge can require owners and occupiers to treat rodent infestations and to carry out necessary works to keep their land free from rats or mice.

Residents do not have to use our pest control contractor and can check the yellow pages (This link will open in a new window) for other local contractors.

Commercial, industrial or business premises need to make their own private arrangements with a suitable contractor.
