If you are on a low income or receiving a benefit from the Department of Works and Pensions i.e. Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Employment Support Allowance, you should apply for Council Tax benefit. The amount you get will depend on you and your partner's income. You must live in the property to get this benefit.
Generally if you have savings of more than £16,000, you cannot get Council Tax Benefit but may be able to claim Second Adult Rebate.
