Spring clean your wardrobe
Released on: 31 March 2017
If you’re clearing out your wardrobe, there’s no need to bin your old clothes when it’s easy to bag them up for our weekly collection of clothes and home textiles.
All you need to do is put your clean and dry textiles into a plastic carrier bag, tie it up and leave it next to your outside green food waste caddy on your usual collection day as long as it’s not raining, as we can’t recycle wet textiles. Please don’t use black bin bags, or put clothes and home textiles in your recycling bin.
All clean and dry clothes and home textiles can be collected, including pairs of shoes and accessories like belts and bags. They’re either sorted to be used again in the UK or abroad, or recycled into new products like felt, insulation or stuffing.
There are also textiles recycling banks at locations around the district, including at community recycling centres.
