Police and Crime Commissioner results 2016

David Munro elected as Surrey's Police & Crime Commissioner 

The newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey is David Munro. The total number of votes for the final two candidates for the Surrey PCC election has been declared by the Police Area Returning Officer as:

David John Munro  

  • Grand total votes = 100,122
  • Total first preference votes = 82,125
  • Total second preference votes = 17,997

Kevin Barry Hurley    

  • Grand total votes = 57,681
  • Total first preference votes = 41,603 
  • Total second preference votes = 16,078

All 11 boroughs and districts across Surrey counted today (Friday 6 May) and the overall turnout for Surrey was 28.07%.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​The total number of verified ballot papers is 239,935 from a total electorate of 854,648 in Surrey. ​

Election counts

The results below are for votes cast in the Tandridge District area only. Once the first stage results are all declared by each Surrey district and borough, if one candidate has over 50% of the votes the Police Area Returning Officer (PARO) will announce an overall winner. If no candidate has over 50% of the votes, the Police Area Returning Officer will decide which candidates go forward to the second stage count.

A second stage count only takes place if no candidate has over 50% of the votes after the first stage count. The results below are for votes cast in the Tandridge District area only. The Police Area Returning Officer will declare the overall result of the second stage count once all the results are declared. This will be the candidate who has the highest total of first and second preference votes.
