If a recycling wheelie bin cannot be used at your property because of steps or steep slopes, or you are physically unable to move a wheelie bin, we will provide you with clear recycling sacks to use instead of the wheelie bin.
If you have a wheelie bin and can't fit all your recycling in it please put additional in plastic carrier bags (no black sacks, we need to be able to see it's recycling), cardboard boxes or clear recycling sacks bought from some supermarkets or online next to your recycling bin. We do not provide clear sacks for additional recycling. If you often fill up your blue lidded recycling bin then you can have another one by filling in the request a recycling container form.
The sacks can be used to recycle:
- Glass bottles and jars.
- Metals including drink and food cans, aerosol cans and foil.
- Paper and cardboard including phone directories, paperback books, junk mail and envelopes.
- Plastic pots, tubs, trays and bottles.
- Wax-lined, poly-lined and foil-lined cartons such as Tetra Paks and milk cartons.
Please place no more than 8kg of recycling in each sack. You may put out more than one sack.
Please place your recycling sacks at the edge of your property by 6am on your collection day.
These sacks cannot be used for general waste or food; recycling sacks containing these items will not be collected.
You can order more recycling sacks online. Delivery can take up to three weeks so please order more before you run out. You can also collect more sacks from the council offices during office hours.
