Waste collection

Household waste is collected every week from between your front gate and back door. It must be contained in an ordinary dustbin and available by 6am. Find out your collection day.

Please wrap up any sharp objects before placing them in your waste to prevent injuries to the collectors.

To report a missed collection or other problem please first check for collection problems and if nothing is listed please fill in the missed collection form, leave a message on our 24 hour automated line on 08459 400 472, or call 01883 722000.

We aim to:

  • Collect your waste from your back door, if required.
  • Return your bin (unless you are using a wheeled bin*) and its lid, and close any gates opened to get to your waste.
  • Clear up any mess caused by the collectors.
  • Treat your property with care and respect.

* We strongly recommend you don't use wheeled bins. The waste vehicles do not have the correct lifting equipment for small domestic wheeled bins and are liable to damage them. If you choose to use a wheeled bin and it is damaged or destroyed, neither the Council or Biffa will be liable to replace it or compensate for the loss. The collectors are no longer allowed to empty wheeled bins by hand for health and safety reasons. Wheeled bins will only be returned to the edge of your property and not back to where it was taken from. Wheeled bins will not be emptied if they are left up or down steps.
