Planning Permission on land or buildings that are not part of a dwelling

Planning permission is required for nearly all new buildings or if changes are made to the use of the property, although there are minor exemptions for shops, offices, warehouses and schools. Applications can be made using the planning portal website.

We strongly encourage you to make use of our pre-application advice service as you may need planning permission. You may also be able to find out if you are covered by an exemption.
