Rent Deposit Scheme

The Tandridge Rent Deposit Scheme (TRDS) helps people who find it hard to raise a rent deposit by offering landlords, with private property to rent, a bond as security for a deposit.

To qualify for assistance you must:

• Be homeless, or likely to become homeless in the next three months.
• Have lived in Tandridge for the last three months, or have a strong local connection.
• Be receiving housing benefit.

To apply just call 01883 714793 (answerphone) and leave your name and number. The scheme co-ordinator will contact you and explain how the scheme works and offer advice about benefits and estate agents. They may even be able to put you in touch with a landlord if there is a suitable vacancy. Best of all this service is free.

If you have already found a place to live, but need help with a deposit, the scheme co-ordinator can talk to the landlord on your behalf and outline the benefits of the scheme.

TRDS is supported by Tandridge District Council, but is an independent charity and part of Tandridge Voluntary Service Council.
