Renting Your Property - Guidance for Landlords

If you are renting out a property that you own, whether directly or through a letting agent, there a number of things that you must consider. These include:

You must inform your mortgage lender
You must take out specialist landlord's insurance
You must provide a valid Gas Safety Record, (This link will open in a new window) covering all gas appliances in the property
Any electrical appliances or installations must be checked
You must supply a valid Energy Performance Certificate (This link will open in a new window)
You must protect your tenant's deposits using a Tenancy Deposit Protection scheme (This link will open in a new window)

The Council also operates the Private Sector Access Scheme for families in need of urgent housing. New properties are always needed, particularly two and three bed properties.
