Housing needs

This section manages the challenging task of trying to balance the demand for housing with the availability of accommodation.

The staff:

• Provide a pro-active help and advice service on Homelessness, to those wishing to either Apply for Council Housing, or Transfer to alternative Council accommodation, and on the availability of housing in the private sector;
• Maintain a Housing Needs Register and review applications annually,
• Conduct home visits and medical assessments;
• Maintain a housing Mutual Exchange Register;
• Deal with Council Housing Allocations, Garage Lettings, liaise with other housing service providers and nominate applicants to Housing Associations properties;
• Advise on opportunities for Key Workers in the District.
